sara ali khan, atrangi re, love aaj kal

Actor Sara Ali Khan made her Bollywood debut with Kedarnath which garnered good responses from the audience. She later starred in several movies where some were hits and some missed. However, seeing Love Aaj Kal’s failure at the box office, Sara seemed to have doubted her acting skills as she revealed she wanted to be replaced in the Akshay Kumar and Dhanush starrer Atrangi Re.

Sara Ali Khan on work in movies:

Talking to Film Companion, Sara said, “I like to see things for what they are, but in 2019, for several reasons, I was not able to do that. I was not seeing the mirror for what it was, I was being overtly effusive, attention-seeking, people-pleasing, and loud. There is a difference between being candid and being gregarious, I very often crossed that line. It won’t be false to say I was in a la-la land in 2019, which is why my work was not rooted in reality, even sometimes, my behaviour was not rooted in reality.

Sara on replacing her in Atrangi Re:

After Love Aaj Kal tanked at the box office, she called filmmaker Aanand L Rai and talked about replacing her in Atrangi Re. She said, “He told me, ‘Beta if you fall, you do not just get up, but you get up and run. This is the kind of film in which you can either play on the backfoot or give it your all, I really urge you to do the latter.”

On the professional front, Sara Ali Khan will be next seen in Gaslight with Vikrant Massey and Chitrangadha Singh. She also has an untitled movie with Laxman Utekar also starring Vicky Kaushal. Moreover, there’s another unannounced film with Homi Adajania.
