Ishita Dixit

Navratri in Mumbai is different for Ishita Dixit than it was back home in Indore. The actress, who essays the role of Pari in the top show Anupamaa, misses celebrating the festival with her family and friends. Some of her strongest memories go back to her childhood, when the nine days meant prayers at home and garba outings with friends.

During an exclusive interaction, Ishita got nostalgic about Navratri, how her family celebrated it during her childhood and her memories of playing garba with friends. Scroll to read all she had to say.

Ishita Dixit: These Are Some Of My Fondest Childhood Navratri Memories

While talking to us, Ishita Dixit said that her grandmother was a big part of all her early Navratri memories. Recalling how she grew up watching her granny worship Maa Durga, while the family kept up its Navratri rituals, she said, “I have so many memories of celebrating Navratri since childhood. My entire family has always been deeply involved in the festival. I grew up watching my grandmother serve Maa Durga with so much devotion.”

She continued, “For all nine days, we would listen to Maa’s katha, recite prayers, perform puja and offer bhog. These are some of my fondest childhood memories, and those traditions continue to this day in Indore.”

It isn’t just the family rituals that Ishita misses. College days remind her of hanging out with friends to play garba and celebrate the festival together. Those outings are harder to recreate now that she lives in Mumbai. Ishita Dixit shared, “Now that I am in Mumbai, I do miss all the fun we had back home. During my college days, my friends and I would go out to play garba and spend so much time together. I really miss those days and the way we celebrated Navratri together.”

Ishita: I Truly Believe That Wherever There Is Good, There Is Also Evil

Away from the celebrations, Ishita also spoke about doing what is right, a lesson she connects with Maa Durga’s teachings. While she says she still has a lot to learn from her time in showbiz, the people she has met have already taught her valuable lessons. She shared, “Yes, I truly believe that wherever there is good, there is also evil. Maa always shows us the difference between right and wrong, but sometimes we choose to ignore it. I have not been in the entertainment industry for a long time, but the people I have met here have already taught me a lot.”

Ishita Dixit feels it is important to stand for what she believes in even when it gets tough. She learns from her mistakes and moves on, never losing sight of her intentions. She said, “Standing up for what is right will not always be easy but at the end of the day Mata Rani knows your intentions and so do your loved ones. I try to do right thing in life, learn from my past mistakes and move forward with pure heart and good intentions. Jai Mata Di!”
