Actor Shah Rukh Khan today (December 15) jetted off to Kolkata for the inaugural programme of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). The pics and videos of the actor from the event have gone viral on social media. At the opening ceremony of the festival, SRK spoke about positivity amid the protests against his upcoming film, Pathaan. The superstar also spoke how cinema has an important role to play.

The Badshah of Bollywood said, “The collective narrative of our times is shaped by social media. Contrary to the belief that social media will affect cinema negatively, I believe cinema has an even more important role to play now.

“Social media is often driven by a certain narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self. I read somewhere that negativity increases social media consumption and thereby increases its commercial value as well. Such pursuits enclose the collective narrative, making it divisive and destructive,” he added.

He further said, “We haven’t been able to meet for a while, but the world is becoming normal now. We are all happy and I am the happiest. And I have no qualms in saying, that no matter what the world does, me and you, and all positive people in the world are alive”.

KIFF 2022 grand inauguration ceremony was also attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Mahesh Bhatt, Sourav Ganguly, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and many others.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh today announced that he will watch the final match of FIFA World Cup 2022 while promoting Pathaan. He said he will not be going to Qatar to watch the match but will be watching it from Jio studios along with a football player.
