The makers of Cocktail 2 recently released Bandhu 2.0, a refreshed version of the beloved song Tumhi Ho Bandhu, and the internet quickly shared its reactions. While some fans appreciated the energetic vibe brought by Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, others were less enthusiastic. Interestingly, the promotional video for Bandhu 2.0 playfully acknowledged the fear of online criticism.
Cocktail 2 Song Bandhu 2.0 Leaves Internet Divided
In the clip, Shahid humorously warns against recreating an iconic song, suggesting it would inevitably invite trolling. Ironically, once the track was released online, it did attract some criticism. On Reddit, one user speculated that the entire conversation about trolling might have been part of a strategic plan, commenting, “Looks like this was planned at the last minute to create buzz. Also, we are in an era where Bollywood trolls itself so that the audience doesn’t troll them.”
Not everyone was sold on the new version. A viewer bluntly stated, “This song is literally minus aura,” indicating their disappointment. Another pointed out the irony of the cast discussing potential backlash, saying, “Pehle troll hone wale kaam karo phir kaho ‘Troll ho jayenge’.”
Criticism also extended to the visuals and music arrangement. Some fans expressed displeasure, with one writing, “What the heck is this? The added beats are unnecessary and atrocious; the visuals and dance steps are even worse.”
Fans Support
One commenter appreciated the overall vibe and Shahid’s dance, noting, “I liked the vibe, Shahid’s dance looks great, but idk the initial part where Kriti and Rash are dancing, the background looks too artificial.” Another suggested that the makers were fully aware of the likely online reactions, stating, “Lol that seems to be the intention behind it. They are doing anything for the sake of it because even if they do it right, they will still be trolled, they know that.”
Visuals, however, remained a common point of critique, with one viewer asking, “Man, am I the only one who couldn’t bear the shit visuals and background?”
