Jailer 2 Box Office (Worldwide): Rajinikanth’s Action-Comedy Sequel Makes History! Becomes FIRST Tamil Film To Gross Rs 800 Cr

There is no stopping Jailer 2 and its latest box office report is proof! As per the data available, the Rajinikanth-led action-comedy sequel has made history by becoming the first ever Tamil film to gross Rs 800 crores at the worldwide box office. Not just that, as per the report, the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has even surpassed the total collection of some biggest Indian films. After becoming the biggest opener in Tamil cinema history by minting around Rs 400 crore in its extended four-day opening weekend, Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2 is now establishing more records. On Day 18 – its third Sunday, the Rajinikanth starrer earned a respectable Rs 11.50 crore net in India. This collection took its third weekend earning to Rs 26.40 crore, resulting in the film’s total domestic collection to amounting to Rs 456 crore net ( Rs 533 crore gross) so far.

With these numbers, Jailer 2 is now the only Tamil film to earn Rs 450 crore in India. What makes this achievement even sweeter is that it is also the only Tamil film to earn at least Rs 60 crore in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana.

Jailer 2 Worldwide Perfromance

Overseas, thanks to Rajinikanth’s immense popularity in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North America, Jailer 2 has been raking in the moolah. As per the box office report, the Nelson 2 directorial has earned close to $29 million overseas. This takes the film’s worldwide gross to Rs 808 crore. This is the first time a Tamil production has entered the Rs 800 crore club.

Alongside amassing Rs 800 crore at the worldwide box office, Jailer 2 has also managed to beat the lifetime collection of two much-loved Bollywood blockbusters. It has surpassed the lifetime collection of Aamir Khan’s PK (Rs 769 crore) and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (Rs 807 crore). The film is likely to see a decline in its collection this week, given that Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-led Ramayana will be releasing on Thursday, November 5.

However, if the film manages to maintain its pace, it can surely gross at least Rs 850 crore before its theatrical run ends. If it manages to touch this milestone, it will pass the lifetime collections of Kantara: Chapter One and Stree 2.

The sequel sees Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik reprising their roles from the 2023 flick. S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan join the case as pivotal characters this time.

Giving the Rajinikanth-starrer a 4-star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Jailer 2 is an entertainer that delivers on its promise of mass action, superstar charisma and theatrical excitement. Rajinikanth remains the heart and soul of the film, while Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction, Anirudh Ravichander’s energetic score and the star-studded cameos provide plenty of reasons for fans to celebrate.”

Jailer 2 also features cameo appearances of Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, Vijay Sethupathi, Vinayakan and Vasanth Ravi.
