Sridevi rejected Sivagami role in Baahubali

Sometimes, fate presents us with opportunities that sparkle like a true diamond, but we fail to recognise its true worth and sham it away like a glittery glass. Seems like something similar happened with Sridevi.

Who can forget the role of might Sivagami in SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ franchise; the fierce queen regent who nursed to princes to ultimately find the true king for Mahishmati? However, did you know that Rajamouli initially wanted Sridevi to play the role?

Shocked? Yes, we are too. Of course, Ramya Krishnan’s excellent act makes it kind of difficult to imagine in the role of Sivagami, even if it is someone as seasoned as Sridevi.

SS Rajamouli wanted Sridevi to play the role, but the actress chose her movie ‘Puli’ over this one, thus opting out of an iconic role.

Director Ram Gopal Varma and self-proclaimed critic KRK took it upon themselves to take to their respective Twitter accounts and troll the actress over this decision of hers.

Ram Gopal Varma posted the following.Ram Gopal Varma on Sridevi and Baahubali

KRK was no less, and said this.

Well, well, well. We don’t know if Sridevi is regretting this decision of hers, but Ramya Krishnan surely benefitted from this rejection. (Also Read: Rishi Kapoor takes a sly dig at Bollywood movies after watching the triumph of ‘Baahubali 2’)
