Sunita Ahuja Withdraws Divorce Case Against Husband Govinda; Visits Family Court

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have been making the headlines a lot lately with regards to turmoil in their marriage. In fact, for nearly a year now, reports have been circulating about the couple getting a divorce. Well, here’s an update. Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, has now confirmed that Sunita has withdrawn her divorce case.

For those who don’t remember, Sunita had reportedly filed a divorce petition against Govinda at the Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024. The case was filed under Section 13(1)(i), (ia) and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty and desertion as grounds for dissolving their nearly 40-year marriage.

Talking about Sunita Ahuja withdrawing her divorce case, Govinda’s manager told SCREEN, “Sunita ji has withdrawn the divorce case against Govinda; there is no separation. Whatever she said, she felt that way at the time and has now taken the case back. It is happy news, and I like what she has done. My only regret is that the matter became very public, but these things happen.”

He continued, “Govinda ji and the children are neutral about the decision. It is simply a case of someone realising their mistake and returning home, and that is a good thing. I hope God gives everyone such wisdom. Whatever happened was not good, but it is in the past now.”

Sunita Spotted Outside Family Court

Earlier today, Sunita Ahuja was spotted at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court wearing a striped shirt and trousers. She was spotted with son Yashvardhan Ahuja and their advocate leaving the family court. As she stepped out, Sunita was surrounded by paparazzi who questioned her left, right and centre about her visit. Choosing not not to answer their questions, Sunita – staying true to her witty personality, replied, “Birthday manane aaye hai (I came to celebrate birthday)” before getting into her car.

Sunita’s family court visit comes right after she spoke openly about her relationship with Govinda and has made allegations about the actor’s personal life, including claims of extramarital affairs.

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja tied the knot in March 1987 and have been together for almost 40 years. The couple has been blessed with two children – daughter Tina Ahuja (1989) and son Yashvardhan (1997). Both their children have tried their hands at acting but have not tasted much success.
