The iconic film DDLJ , which was first screened at Maratha Mandir in October 1995, was undergoing its 20th year of uninterrupted run at the iconic cinema hall saw the last show Thursday the 19th February, 2015.

On Thursday, the morning show of 11.30 am was announced to be the last show after which the curtains would be pulled down for the movie.

However, after the announcement of the same, the authorities at Maratha Mandir reportedly received 250 phone calls from viewers expressing their disappointment. Also, no sooner did this news broke, Maratha Mandir and Evergreen DDLJ started trending on social platforms. Thus, as a result of the public outcry, Manoj Desai, Managing Director of Maratha Mandir, has announced an extension of one week of the same, after which a call will be taken after discussions with Yashraj.

An official press release said on Thursday, “While the theatre management was happy to continue the film for as long as it continued to draw in the audiences, owing to logistical issues of their staff having to work inordinately long hours to accommodate an additional early morning show, it was mutually decided to end the films historic & record breaking run.”

The movie will be screened at its original 11.30 am show for this week.

Such is the love the audiences have for Hindi cinema.
