Recently, there were reports of Diljit Dosanjh being roped in for a movie based on hockey player and ex-captain of India, Sandeep Singh. Even though the movie isn’t exactly a biopic, it will showcase a crucial chapter of Sandeep’s life which will be portrayed on screen. There was no confirmation about the leading lady of the movie, but now, actress Taapsee Pannu has been finalised for the role opposite Diljit. And instead of a biopic, the movie will be a love story which will revolve around Taapsee and Diljit. Both of them will be essaying hockey players in the movie.
The exact details are yet to be known, but the movie will be helmed by Shaad Ali. Two actors will be prepping up by means of doing extensive training in hockey so as to enhance their hockey-playing skills for the movie. Currently, Taapsee is busy with her soon-to-release movie ‘Judwaa 2’ which stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan in a double role apart from her. The movie directed by David Dhawan is slated to release on Sept 29, 2017. Post the release of the movie, Taapsee will engross herself in another new project.
The actress has also joined hands with an initiative, Women’s Self Defence Centre (WSDC), launched by Akshay Kumar. She had said in a statement, “I have always tried to push the importance of self-defence in girls. It is more than just learning martial arts, it’s about instilling this confidence amongst girls that they are capable of taking care of themselves. They need to be their own heroes.” [sic]
