Vivek Agnihotri Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan has been steadily expanding his filmography beyond commercial entertainers, taking on roles that explore more grounded and patriotic themes. After appearing in Border 2, a sequel to the 1997 war drama Border, the actor drew attention for stepping into the space of nationalist cinema. Over the years, Varun has balanced mass entertainers with content-driven films, while filmmakers too have increasingly shown interest in casting him in projects rooted in real-life or politically charged narratives.

Varun Dhawan To Team Up With Vivek Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar For Operation Sindoor Film

Amid this shift, industry sources indicate that Varun Dhawan is currently in discussions with Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar for a film titled Operation Sindoor. According to a Bollywood Hungama source, “Varun has been offered Operation Sindoor, and the actor has shown his interest in playing the lead. Bhushan Kumar and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri went to Varun with the lead protagonist role in the film, and the actor has shown early interest in the subject. He is expected to hear the full narration soon and then take a call on the same.”

The development comes at a time when Varun is actively reviewing new scripts. He recently took a short break to spend time with his daughter, Lara, and has now resumed meetings with writers and filmmakers. The actor is also preparing for the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, scheduled for May 22, and aims to begin work on his next project by July.

Notably, Varun Dhawan has been in conversations with Bhushan Kumar for multiple projects following Border 2, with Operation Sindoor being one of the key scripts under consideration. Discussions around a potential multi-film collaboration between the actor and the producer are also underway, although no official confirmation has been made so far.

As Varun Dhawan navigates this phase of his career, his next move will likely reflect a careful balance between scale and subject. With several offers on the table, the final decision on Operation Sindoor could signal the direction he chooses to take in the evolving space of mainstream Hindi cinema.
