Acclaimed filmmaker David Dhawan celebrated his 75th birthday on August 16 and it was an intimate but star studded affair. The filmmaker’s family, close friends and colleagues from the film industry were in attendance to celebrate his diamond birthday. Among the attendees were actor Salman Khan, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and writer-director Rumy Jafry.

David Dhawan’s Intimate But Star-Studded 75th Birthday Celebration

On Sunday, writer-director Rumy Jafry took to his Instagram account and shared a few inside glimpse of David Dhawan’s birthday party. Seen in the pictures are Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan Rumy, Sajid Nadiadwala and a few others. Sharing the pictures, Jafry simply wrote, “Wishing David sahab a very happy birthday. May you stay healthy and happy always.”

Talking about the pictures, one of the images of show the group standing shoulder-to-dhoulder with the veteran filmmaker with his birthday cake in the foreground. Talking about Khan’s presence at the celebration, the Bigg Boss 20 host was seen looking dashing in an all-black outfit and a cowboy hat. Another pictures features Varun loving planting a kiss on his father’s cheek, moments after the cake was cut.

David Dhawan Career

David Dhawan has been entertaining the audience for over 30 years. Some of the filmmaker’s notable films in the 90s include Swarg, Shola Aur Shabnam, Bol Radha Bol, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, Judwaa, Hero No. 1, Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi, Deewana Mastana, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Haseena Maan Jaayegi.

In the 2000s, Dhawan delivered much-loved films such as Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Chal Mere Bhai, Jodi No. 1, Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, Partner, Chashme Baddoor, Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and Coolie No. 1.

David Dhawan’s latest offering was the 2026 film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Ha. Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, the film released on June 12 to mixed reviews.
