‘Veere Di Wedding’ director Shashanka Ghosh is not your orthodox filmmaker. He likes to buck the trend and do something, which might be out of the box and somewhat risky. Now, Shashanka Ghosh is planning to convert a crime novel into a movie. The novel in question is Manisha Lakhe’s ‘The Betelnut Killers’.

According to a report in the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Shashanka Ghosh’s project is likely to feature Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah and Anupam Kher. The premise of the book revolves around an NRI Gujarati family that runs into two American convicts. The said project is most likely to take off in 2019.

Joy B Ganguly, who is producing the film, told Mumbai Mirror, “Shashanka and he had brainstormed on the project a long time ago. The idea came to Shashanka when he was travelling to the US in the late ’90s. Over the last few years, we kept discussing it and have now decided to go ahead with the film. The script is being developed at the moment.”

The producer further added that it needs an ensemble cast and they will be approaching Ratna Pathak Shah, Anupam Kher and Nasseruddin Shah. The film could feature American actors as well. So, looks like Shashanka Ghosh is once again taking a risk and knowing him, he will be leaving no stone unturned.
