The year 2020 doesn’t seem to be stopping at giving us one shock after the another. After the recent death of legendary filmmaker Basu Chatterjee (June 4), veteran producer Anil Suri breathed his last on Thursday. As per a report in PTI, the 77-year-old producer passed away due to Coronavirus.

Suri has films like Raaj Kumar-Rekha starrer ‘Karmayogi’ and  Raaj Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra, Kamal Haasan and Hema Malini starter ‘Raaj Tilak’ to his credit.

Anil’s brother Rajiv Suri, who is also a producer, told PTI that he had a fever on June 2 but later his condition worsened when he started feeling breathlessness. “He was rushed to the top hospitals, Lilavati and Hinduja, but both denied him a bed. He was then taken to Advanced Multispeciality Hospital on Wednesday night. He had Covid-19. On Thursday evening, they said something is amiss and he was put on a ventilator. He died around 7:00 pm,” Rajiv informed the news agency.

The veteran producer’s last rites were performed at the Oshiwara cremation ground today( June 5). And reportedly only four close family members attended the funeral due to the Coronavirus scare.

Rajiv Suri, who had produced Basu Chatterjee’s ‘Manzil’, said that it was devastating to lose his brother as well as the director on the same day.

Anil is survived by his brother Rajiv, two children and wife.
