Welcome To The Jungle Faces 18 CBFC Cuts

Ahead of its highly anticipated release on June 26, the Akshay Kumar-led film Welcome to the Jungle has encountered significant censorship hurdles, with the CBFC demanding 18 cuts. After facing notable production delays, pushing back the release by approximately two and a half years since filming began in December 2023, director Ahmed Khan’s multi-starrer is finally set to hit theatres.

As the third instalment in the Welcome film series, Welcome to the Jungle features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, and Rajpal Yadav.

Welcome To The Jungle Faces 18 CBFC Cuts

As the movie prepares for its worldwide release on Friday, June 26, a new report reveals that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has mandated a total of 18 cuts, including references to Kashmir and certain “sensual” scenes featuring Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film was subsequently awarded a UA 16+ certificate with a runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes.

According to Variety India, the CBFC requested alterations or deletions of phrases or words deemed potentially sensitive, political, or crude. Dialogues such as “paani of Kashmir” and “desh ki tatti” were completely removed. Military references like “Gorkha Regiment” and “General” needed to be replaced with “Tum army se ho?” and “Officer/Sir,” respectively. These changes were made throughout the film.

Additionally, the line “Kaala paida hua hai… koyla hai” was changed to “saadah paida hua hai… namoona hua hai,” and “yaad karo kurbani muh me bhar lo paani” was modified to “suno sunata hoon kahani jo shaheed honey jaa raha tha, uske muh mein bharlo paan.” The name “Azarudden” was altered to “Allaudin,” and the word “screwed” was removed from subtitles in two instances.

Removal Of Bikini, Sensual Scenes

CBFC also targeted sensual visuals. They demanded the removal of bikini scenes, close-ups of women’s hips, and certain hip-movement shots in a song. The sensual visuals of Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez were specifically censored. Furthermore, a shot featuring a vulgar hand gesture was replaced with a close-up of actor Vindu Dara Singh.
