Irrfan Khan’s ‘Blackmail’ started off on a poor note at the box office and didn’t show a great jump over the weekend too. The movie did a business of Rs 3.35 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 4 crore nett on Sunday taking its three day business to Rs 9.85 crore nett.

The collections are in the same range as his earlier movies like ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’ and ‘Madaari’, but they are less than that of ‘Hindi Medium’ which had collected around Rs 12 crore nett. The movie’s dark comedy theme didn’t work for the audience much.

Also, the IPL Matches over the weekend affected the business to some extent. And to add to it, Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 2’ also affected the business of ‘Blackmail’. ‘Baaghi 2’ did a business of Rs 20.25 crore nett in its second weekend, which is double the first weekend business of Irrfan Khan-starrer. ‘Blackmail’ has a low budget of around Rs 18-19 crore which includes PA. The digital will cover almost 50% of the film’s cost and it’s going to be a plus point for the producers, but we don’t know if the satellite will work for the makers as the theatrical medium hasn’t given the desired numbers yet.
