Saif Ali Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Kartavya, produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. During the promotions, the actor opened up about the constant struggle of balancing professional commitments with family life. He also reflected on how fatherhood changed his perspective on time, priorities, and work schedules.
Saif Ali Khan Opens Up On Work-Life Balance
Speaking to India Today, Saif Ali Khan candidly discussed the personal cost of an unpredictable acting career. He said, “I’m sure there have been sacrifices professionally that have cost me personally. We’ve also been lucky, because as actors you can’t take support for granted in this profession.” He compared home life to a ‘base camp,’ explaining that it helps people recharge before returning to demanding work schedules. However, he also warned that spending too much time away can weaken that emotional foundation.
Saif further highlighted how the nature of film schedules often affects family life. “You miss out on important personal moments too,” he said, pointing out how actors frequently miss key events in their loved ones’ lives due to long working hours.
The Love Aaj Kal actor shared that his mindset shifted significantly after becoming a father later in life with Kareena Kapoor Khan. He said, “At this age, I’ve become more conscious about giving time to family. Especially after having children a little later in life, I started feeling that I must be home at a certain time in the evening. That nine-to-nine shift really bothers me because you don’t start at nine and you don’t finish at nine. The last shot goes up at 9:30, you’re home by 11, and I don’t think that’s a life. But yes, I have made lots of sacrifices, which was crazy,” he added.
Saif was earlier married to Amrita Singh, with whom he has two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. He later married Kareena Kapoor Khan in 2012, and the couple has two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.
