Tanishaa Mukerji Bigg Boss 7

Tanishaa Mukerji became one of the most talked-about contestants during her time on Bigg Boss 7. From her close bond with actor Armaan Kohli to frequent controversies inside the house, the actress remained at the centre of discussions throughout the season. Years after the reality show, Tanishaa has now reflected on the experience and called it deeply traumatic. She also claimed that fellow contestants used the names of her family members for screen time.

Tanishaa Mukerji Calls Her Bigg Boss 7 Experience ‘Traumatic’

In a conversation with Mamaraazzi, Tanishaa Mukerji spoke about her decision to join Bigg Boss 7 and admitted that she had entered the show with a very different understanding of reality television. “I was living in my fairy-tale world, thinking it would be all rosy. My agent was like, ‘You can create a new perception for yourself, you can style yourself, you can show who you are to the world.’ I said yes, not realising that you don’t show the world anything; they show the world what they want,” she said.

The actress further revealed that she struggled with Hindi during her time inside the house, which affected how much of her personality audiences got to see on screen. According to Tanishaa, most of her conversations happened in English and were eventually edited out.

Recalling the aftermath of the show, Tanishaa Mukerji claimed she later discovered that contestants often brought up her family members, including sister Kajol and brother-in-law Ajay Devgn, during the show to gain attention. “I didn’t know until I came out of the house that people were talking about my sister and my brother-in-law just to get screen time. I think it was my naivety. Today, I know that I will never put myself in that position again, where anyone has any right to say anything about my family,” she said.

Tanishaa also addressed questions raised at the time about why members of her family did not visit her inside the house during family episodes. “If you are not willing to pay them, why should they come for free? This is a TV show. Everyone here is getting paid,” she added.

Tanishaa Mukerji On Her Equation With Armaan Kohli

The actress also reflected on the emotional toll reality television took on her. During her Bigg Boss 7 journey, her equation with co-contestant Armaan Kohli became one of the season’s biggest talking points. When asked whether the experience felt traumatic, Tanishaa agreed. “Yes, definitely. Because these reality shows survive on trauma; it is trauma bonding. You make friends also through trauma bonds. You figure it out later, but these are all trauma bonds you are creating. And when you heal, they are not your friends because you have healed past the trauma,” she said. (sic)

Over the years, several former reality show contestants have spoken about the psychological impact of living under constant surveillance and public scrutiny. Tanishaa Mukerji’s latest remarks once again reopened conversations around the emotional pressures associated with competitive reality television.

On the work front, Tanishaa Mukerji was last seen in Love You Shankar alongside Shreyas Talpade.
