Adnan Sami On Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan Song Bhar Do Jholi

When asked about how he got Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s song Bhar Do Jholi, Adnan Sami said, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan happened completely out of the blue. It wasn’t something I had planned at all. I suddenly got a call from Salman, and he said, ‘Hey, what’s happening? I have this great song,’ and I said, ‘Oh great, wonderful, it’d be lovely to get together again and do something.’ Then he said, ‘It’s a qawwali,’ and I was like, Me? Qawwali, you know?’ He said, ‘Yeah.'”

Continuing, he said, “I told him I had never sung a qawwali before. I had composed qawwalis, but never sung one. And he said, ‘That’s exactly why I want you to do it. Because I want you to bring in a fresh take on this genre. I don’t want a typical qawwal to sing it.’ So I said, ‘Okay, if I have that kind of creative freedom, I’d love to do it.'”

He added, “So I got together with Pam. We went into the studio and had a great time working on it. Then, suddenly, Salman threw another googly at me, he said, ‘Listen, I’d like you to be in the film. The qawwali will be picturized on you.’ I said, ‘Bro, a qawwali? On me?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ I was like, ‘All right.’ I love it when someone pushes me out of my comfort zone. It was totally unexpected, very challenging and interesting, but I truly enjoyed it. I’m really happy I did it, and even more delighted that people liked it. I’m very grateful.”
