EXCLUSIVE: Aditya Rawal Opens Up About Getting Slapped By Anil Kapoor In Subedaar; Says, “Aapne Joh Bhi Socha Tha, Usse Pare Nikal Gayi”

Aditya Rawal was last seen in Anil Kapoor starrer Subedaar. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor spoke about how motivating it was to work with the veteran star. He also shared some behind-the-scenes moments, recalling the first action sequence where he got slapped by Anil Kapoor during a pivotal scene. Scroll down to read what he shared.

Aditya Rawal Opens Up About His Experience Working With Anil Kapoor

When asked about portraying a negative role opposite Anil Kapoor and his experience working with him, Aditya Rawal said, “Ekdum hi mazedaar. Matlab actually pehle toh thoda sa Darr rehta hai ki you know itne bade diggaj hai aapke saamne. But fir, pehle din se hi unke saath set pe, in fact set pe kya, ek do action rehearsals jab huye the, tabhi se samajh aagaya tha ki he’s going to be the most fantastic star to work with, somebody I can learn so much from and be inspired by daily. Aur exactly wahi hua. Asal mein toh I think I would say ki because he made sure that, not just me, but all of the co-actors were so comfortable working with him. Matlab sunehra safar tha.”

He continued, “Shuruat mein Darr lagta hai. Action rehearsal ke din pe thoda sa aisa laga tha, but he has a way of putting you at ease. By the time you’re on set, it wasn’t at all like that. And I think it was important for the film also. Because of the nature of the confrontation between the two characters, zaruri hai ki thoda matlab, you know, it should feel like a strong confrontation between two equals. So if that had not come through, that would have been a problem. So I think from day one, we were already there.”

When asked about the first action sequence in which he receives a big slap and how the experience of shooting it, Aditya said, “Woh toh bohot maza aaya tha. Because we all knew that was a pivotal point in the script. Toh woh pehle se hi soch ke rakhe the ki you know kaisa hoga, kya hoga. But what was great about it was by that point, by the time I returned on the screen, already bheed ikkatha ho chuki thi aur waha pe hum joh shoot kar rahe the teen din se Anil sir ko dekhne ke liye already 200-250 log hamesha rehte the on weekdays also. “

Talking more about the experience, he added, “Toh fir woh mahol ban gaya tha na it gave the whole scene a different kind of energy. When I stepped away from the scene, and by the time I returned, it was already fully created. Toh matlab it was really ki aapne joh bhi socha tha usse pare nikal gayi baat. Which is always great for an actor.”

Aditya Rawal Shares A Life Lesson He Learned From His Co-Star Anil Kapoor

When asked whether he learned anything from Anil Kapoor beyond acting, perhaps a life lesson, Aditya said, “I think the best part about Anil sir is that you want to learn from him; you can learn by being on the side with him. Matlab kabhi kabhi he invited us all to have dinner with him, and you know maybe waisa tha. But the life lessons are just from watching him on set. Because his professionalism from day one is just immaculate.”

The actor further added,” Toh, whether it is unke age, unke experience, unke Stardom ke level ke aadmi 12 ghante shoot kar rahe hai agar situation demand kar raha hai, hamesha time par, hamesha ready hai. Yeh nahi ki van mein hai. He’s always on set. Even if it’s not his scene, he’s there, he’s involved. Yeh nahi ki phone nikal gaya 5-5 minute mein. Kuch nahi. Toh woh matlab joh misaal hai, unko dekhte rehna hai aur seekhte rehna hai.”
