Akash Makhija has opened up about the overwhelming response his performance has received from those closest to him. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor revealed that his wife was deeply shaken after watching the show. The actor shared that her emotional reaction, which even included tears and anger, convinced him that his portrayal of Babu had truly made an impact. While his wife struggled to separate the character from the real Akash, his family praised the emotionally charged performance. Scroll down to read what he said.
Akash Makhija On Wife Roshni’s Reaction To Raakh’s Character Babu
When asked about his wife and family’s reaction to the show, Akash Makhija said, “To be honest, I think ek toh video viral ho hi chuka hai meri biwi ka. I think second day tha, hum neeche interviews de rahe the. And I told her, ‘Mere bina mat dekhna.’ Lekin unhone jaake dekh liya. Jaise hi main room mein aaya, she was kind of crying, sobbing. Mujhe laga main ek reaction capture kar leta hoon — ki achha, yeh pehla emotion nikal ke aa raha hai, yeh dekho pehla review aa raha hai.”
The actor continued, “Maine socha main apne creators aur directors ko dikhaunga ki, ‘See sir, this is the impact.’ And she gave me left, right and centre. Woh toh video maine edited daala hai. Main toh dikha bhi nahi sakta unhone mujhe kya-kya bola tha. I mean, she was pissed. Honestly, she was very pissed because obviously jab aap dekhte ho toh itna khauf aur itna ganda feel hota hai. But the fact is ki mujhe is insaan ke saath thodi rehna hai — unko toh mere saath rehna hai. Mujhe yeh laga ki if she is finding it so difficult to disassociate Babu from me as Akash, then this is the impact of that character.”
Akash On His Family’s Reaction
Speaking about his family’s reaction, he said, “Main bas soch raha tha, ‘Wow!’ Agar yahan yeh reaction hai, toh audience ka kya reaction hone wala hai? Ghar waale toh yaar mujhe itne saalon se dekh rahe hain. Obviously maine unse poocha kaisa laga show, toh unko bahut achha laga. They were like, ‘Nahi, bahut emotional bhi tha.’ Maine apni mom se poochna, kaunsa scene sabse zyada laga, toh unhone kaha, ‘Jab Ali tujhe bahut maar raha tha, mujhe bahut rona aa raha tha.’ Maine kaha, ‘Please, woh maa ki mamta hai.’ Meri mother-in-law ne bhi bola, ‘Beta, jab aapko maar rahe the’. Family pretty much knows, because woh meri journey bhi dekh rahe hain.”
He added, “Jab main acting karta hoon aur ghar aata hoon… Main ek joint family mein rehta hoon. Main 10 logon ke saath rehta hoon. Toh I think woh meri therapy bhi ban jaati hai. Andheri ya jahan hamara hub hai, wahan rehne ka drawback yeh bhi hai ki aap poora time kaam ke baare mein hi baat karte rehte ho. Shoot se ghar bhi aaoge toh you will only talk about work. Even though I feel it’s very irritating to travel a lot, mere liye sukoon bhi wahi hai ki ghar aake aap kind of switch off easily ho jaate ho. So, family is very happy right now. No, it’s all chilled for the time being.”
Akash Says Roshni’s Reaction Was His Biggest Review
Concluding the actor said, “She was like, ‘The way you look, the way you are talking… abhi sound thodi na badlega tera, aankhen thodi na badal jayengi.’ I think it’s pretty much how, when you watch a show, it stays with you for a day or two. I think it’s pretty much the same for her. She has seen this character, Babu, so it will take some time for her to disassociate Babu from me. But again, she also kind of understands this. I think that initial reaction was the biggest review for me, that okay, this is working.”
