EXCLUSIVE: Iulia Vantur Recalls Being ‘Very Scared’ While Recording Lag Ja Gale For Salman Khan’s Sikandar; Praises Late Icon Lata Mangeshkar

Romanian singer and performer Iulia Vantur has steadily built a distinct identity in the Indian music industry, winning hearts with her dedication and evolving artistry. From singing the popular Bollywood track “Teri Meri” in Romanian to lending her voice to Hindi film projects and live performances across India, Iulia’s journey as a singer has been one of persistence, growth, and passion.

Iulia Vantur Recalls Working With Himesh Reshamiya

In an exclusive conversation, Iulia Vantur reflected on her musical beginnings in India and credited composer Himesh Reshammiya for giving her one of her earliest opportunities. Recalling their first collaboration, Every Night and Day -released eight years ago, she admitted that confidence didn’t come easily. “I didn’t believe in my voice a lot back then. But after a lot of hard work and tireless training, I slowly gained confidence in myself,” she shared.

Describing her approach to music, Iulia said that each performance continues to teach her something new. “Every song, every show is a new experience for me. Each performance makes me richer and better as an artist,” she added.

The singer also spoke fondly about her admiration for fellow musicians in the industry. Praising Arijit Singh, Iulia described him as “a beautiful human being and very humble,” while also applauding Palak Muchhal for her voice and unwavering dedication to music.

Talking about her all-time favourite singers, Iulia became visibly emotional as she remembered the late, legendary Lata Mangeshkar. “She is iconic. It doesn’t feel like she is no longer with us,” she said, acknowledging the timeless presence of the melody queen.

Reminiscing Singing ‘Lag Jaa Gale’ for Sikandar

Reminiscing about singing Lag Jaa Gale for Salman Khan’s film Sikandar, Iulia Vantur revealed that the experience came with immense pressure. “I felt very scared, not because I didn’t know the song or how to pronounce the words properly, but because of the responsibility. Singing such a huge song originally performed by an iconic singer comes with immense pressure,” she said.

Interestingly, Lag Jaa Gale also holds a special personal significance for her. “It was one of the first songs I heard in India, and I fell in love with it instantly,” Iulia recalled.

She added that after hearing her sing it multiple times, the team eventually suggested that she sing it for the film. “They heard me perform it so often that they said I might as well sing it for Sikandar,” she said with a smile.

With each project, Iulia Vantur continues to evolve, embracing challenges, honouring legends, and steadily strengthening her voice in the Indian music industry.
