EXCLUSIVE: Mohit Raina regrets choosing Vicky Kaushal starrer URI as his Bollywood debut: It wasn’t a wise decision

Mohit Raina is one of the most talented actors in the industry. His acting career began with a science fiction TV show, Antariksh. Post that, he went on appear in many TV shows including Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, and Bandini. For the uninitiated, Mohit made his Bollywood debut with Uri – The Surgical Strike. He played the role of Major Karan Kashyap in the Vicky Kaushal starrer. Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mohit Raina revealed why it was not a ‘wise decision’ to choose URI – The Surgical Strike as his Bollywood debut project.

Mohit Raina reveals why URI wasn’t a good choice as his Bollywood debut

When asked if people in the industry started taking him seriously after he delivered a terrific performance in URI, he responded saying, “No, I don’t think so. I think career-wise it wasn’t a very wise decision to play that that part.”

He added, “My weakness is uniform. I always wanted to be in Defense Forces. So, I never wanted to miss that opportunity to be in those shoes and be in that uniform for that much space. From an acting perspective or from a career point of view, it wasn’t a great path-breaking thing.”

Mohit went on to add, “I did it personally for the director (Aditya Dhar). He’s a friend and he wanted me to be a part of that so I did it for him and I did it for the love of the uniform. Having said that, honestly because what it became and what it did later on was obviously it got a lot of eyeballs and people loved the film. It was a very well made film but it didn’t change much for me.”

The actor had a very limited screen time in URI. Addressing the same, Mohit said, “I knew the feedback it would get but it was more from a career point of view and more from my heart.”

On the work front, Mohit Raina recently delivered a good performance in Neeraj Pandey’s action-thriller web series The Freelancer. The actor starred opposite Anupam Kher in the same.
