Omkar Kapoor Talks About Salman Khan Being Chulbul Pandey

Actor Omkar Kapoor, recently seen in the Netflix film Ufff Yeh Siyapaa, is known for his memorable performance in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and has been a familiar face in the industry since childhood, having acted in films like Judwaa, Masoom, and Hero No. 1. Omkar Kapoor Being Inspired By Salman Khan

Speaking about playing a cop on screen for the first time, Omkar shares with Bollywood Bubble, “It was a great experience, as it gave me the opportunity to explore something new and present myself to the audience in a different light. People have mostly seen me in romantic comedies, so I thoroughly enjoyed portraying a cop with a touch of humour, especially since the film belongs to the black comedy genre.”

While preparing for his character Hasmukh Patel, Omkar drew subtle inspiration from one of Bollywood’s most iconic cop portrayals, “Because the brief given to me by our director, Mr. G. Ashok, was that my character, Hasmukh Patel, is a huge fan of Chulbul Pandey the iconic character played by Salman Khan in Dabangg. So, in a way, the inspiration naturally came from him. I also added my own touch to make the portrayal unique and true to my style. It was, in essence, my personal tribute to the legendary character of Chulbul Pandey.”

Interestingly, Omkar did not meet real-life police officers while prepping for the role. His character was designed to be more comedic and expressive rather than intense and gritty, He shares, “The character was written with a humorous tone rather than as a serious cop. I didn’t actually meet any real-life officers for preparation. I did make sure to understand the basic nuances of how a cop should talk, walk, dress, and carry himself to bring authenticity to the role.”

Since Ufff Yeh Siyapaa is a silent film, the performance relied heavily on physicality, says,“I had to rely completely on my expressions and body language to convey emotions, as there were no dialogues to support the performance. The cop has both a serious side and a vulnerable, fearful side, and maintaining that balance was both challenging and exciting.”

Looking back, Omkar calls the experience rewarding, Omkar said , “Overall, it was a fun and enriching experience to portray such a layered character.”

With this film, Omkar Kapoor not only steps out of his comfort zone but also showcases his versatility reminding audiences that his journey from child actor to leading man has been one of constant growth and reinvention.
