EXCLUSIVE: ‘Jasjeet Shergill’ Paramvir Singh Cheema Admits He Was NOT Convinced With Dhanush, Kriti Sanon’s Tere Ishk Mein Script; States, “Sochna Padhta Hai Ki…”

Paramvir Singh Cheema, who impressed audiences with his performance in Tere Ishk Mein and has now strengthened his filmography with Border 2, continues to carve a space for himself with layered and grounded roles. As the romantic drama gained attention, the actor opened up about how the project came his way and why he initially felt unsure about the script. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Paramvir spoke candidly about landing the role, collaborating with director Anand L Rai, and sharing screen space with stars like Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. Paramvir Singh Cheema On Working In Tere Ishk Mein

Recalling how the opportunity came to him, Paramvir shared that Mukesh Chhabra’s team reached out while he shot for Border 2. He said, “Main Border ke shoot pe tha. Mujhe Mukesh sir, Mukesh Chabbra ne hamesha bohot support kiya. Unki team se mujhe call aaya ki Anand sir film kar rahe hain, Tere Ishk Mein aur he wants you for this part. Toh maine kaha accha, par main audition nahi kar sakta aur abhi mera look ye wala hai. Toh woh kehte hain, ‘Audition nahi chahiye, woh bas aapse ek baar baat karna chahte hain.’”

Before committing, the actor insisted on reading the script. However, he admitted he didn’t immediately connect with it. “Toh maine kaha ek baar script padh loon ki kya hai mere liye usme. Toh jab maine padha toh I was not very convinced. Mujhe laga yaar kya change ho raha hai, kyunki koi bhi kirdar chhota ya bada nahi hota. Main sochta hoon script mein aapke aane ya na aane se kuch change ho raha hai ya nahi. Agar character ko nikal do toh film pe effect hona chahiye. Toh woh sabse bada effect tha Tere Ishk Mein mein.”

Paramvir Cheema Reveals Not Being Convinced By The Script

He added that his conversations with director Anand L Rai and writer Himanshu Sharma changed his perspective. “Jab maine Anand sir se suna, phir meri Himanshu sir se baat hui. Woh bole tere reactions hi humara choose karne ka motive hai. Hume woh aankhein chahiye. Anand sir ne kaha tha, ‘Hume woh aankhein chahiye, aur tujhe log bhoolenge nahi is film ke baad, ye main make sure karta hoon.’ Screening ke time bhi unhone poocha tha, ‘Tu khush hai?’ maine kaha, ‘Haan sir, main khush hoon.’”

Paramvir also spoke about the pressure of working with established stars like Dhanush and Kriti Sanon but said the atmosphere on set quickly eased his nerves. “Matlab itna bada project aur itne bade stars ke saath kaam karna, pressure toh obviously aa jata hai. Sochta tha kaisa mahaul hoga, Kriti kaisi hai, Dhanush kaise behave karte hain. Mere most scenes Kriti ke saath hi hain. Par jab set pe gaya, sab alag nikla. Main vanity mein khana khata tha toh Anand sir bole, ‘Tu humare saath baith ke kyun nahi khana khaata?’”

Paramvir Singh Cheema On Working With Kriti Sanon

He continued, “Kriti was so friendly, main sab baat kar sakta tha. Dhanush sir bohot calm the. Main side mein baitha tha toh unhone khud bola, ‘Come sit here.’ Doosre din hi mera pressure nikal gaya. Sab frank ho gaye. Anand sir set ko itna chilled out rakhte hain ki shoot ka pressure feel hi nahi hota.”

Calling it one of his most relaxed shoots, he said, “Ekdum chilled out shoot tha. Main bolta tha sir ghar se kya tayyari karke aaoon, woh bolte the, ‘Tu kuch mat kar, bas set pe aa ja.’ Kriti ke saath discussions hote the—woh bolti thi aise karte hain, main bolta tha thoda aisa kar lete hain. Aisa kabhi nahi laga ki bade stars hain toh baat na karun. Ek accha actor samajhta hai ki discussions kitne important hote hain.”
