Actor Prateik Smita Patil revealed that he was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and continues to live with adult ADHD. He shared how the condition affects his daily life and how he manages it with awareness and support.
Prateik Smita Patil On Mental Health Issues Being Considers As Taboo
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Prateik said, “I’m scared of winds, I was diagnosed with child ADHD and that was never treated, now I have adult ADHD that I’m treating, which is fine. I feel like every time I’m reminded of what I did, I also remind them that I myself with my willpower have overcome and bounced back.”
Prateik also spoke about the stigma surrounding mental health in society. He highlighted the importance of open conversations and acceptance, stating that mental health struggles should not be seen as weaknesses.
He added, “Fortunately, the time we are living in is a much more open discussion mental health discussion and trauma getting help for it. It’s easier today. People used to subject, ‘yeh pagal hai, mai pagal thodi hu, mujhe therapy lene ki zarurat nahi hai, mai pagal thodi hu. This needs to change slowly but it’s a lot of work. The most educated people still think it’s a taboo. It’s ridiculous but fortunately, it’s changing.”
By sharing his journey, Prateik hopes to encourage others to seek help and normalize discussions around mental health challenges.
