Rubina Dilaik Talks About Breaking Stereotypes Post Pregnancy In Industry

When asked about the beauty standards prevalent in the entertainment industry and how actresses are frequently typecast as mothers after pregnancy, restricting the variety of roles offered to them, Rubina Dilaik responded, “It aches my heart when someone just assumes that ‘I think I’ve become a mother, mera chapter close hogaya’. No, you don’t know what’s lying after this. And until and unless you do not step out of that darkness, and are willing to open new doors for yourself, you don’t know what’s lying on the other side of the door. And that is very important. That only comes with self-worth. Which is very difficult to navigate, kyunki, you question yourself, saying ‘Baal waise nahi rahe, shakl waisi nahi rahi, ab wrinkles dikhne lage, ab chehre ki banawat alag hogayi’. Body mein abhi bhi aisa hai ki you’re still fighting with some areas. Abhi bhi belly thoda sa dikhega.”

Rubina continued, “Joh, cheezein aap compensate nahi kar sakte woh aap apne pehrawe ke saath karte ho. Aur main apne aap pehrawe ke saath bohot kuch compensate karti hu. That’s another way of building your confidence. I’ve to rebuild my confidence, I’ve to rebuild my self-worth. Being a mother, everything just redefines you. Now, how you want to define yourself is up to you.”

Concluding, the Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 contestant said, “God also gives you a handbook saying ki beta iske aage ki kahani aap khud se likho kyuki abhi tak hi kahani maa-baap, teachers, friends, society, family sabne likhi. Maa banne ke baad aap apni kahani likh sakte ho, only if you understand what power you have.”
