Vivek Oberoi speaks about his father Suresh Oberoi

During the candid chat, Vivek Oberoi shared how Sandeep Reddy Vanga came to Suresh Oberoi for Animal. He also shared his father’s working experience with Ranbir Kapoor in the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial. He says, “No matter how big you grow age-wise or in stature, a son always looks up to his father. I still look up to my dad, he is still my hero. I become that five-year-old when I look at my father. There’s that idol worship and he had earned it. He sits at home and people like Sandeep Reddy Vanga search him out and say sir I want you to do this role and I won’t take no for an answer.”

Vivek added, “He is in his 70s playing golf, hanging with his grandchildren and then somebody inspires him, shows him that they respect him. That’s when he comes out and says I will give my best performance. We, in our own heads are the royal family of our home, we have our own little kingdom. My father and I are very chilled out. He is a phenomenal actor, even in his 70s people are coming to him.”

Sharing an incident from Animal success party, Vivek Oberoi said, “He really enjoyed doing Animal. And I really enjoyed walking with him to that success party, taking him there. It was so lovely to see everybody meet him. Anil sir met him, hugged him. Mera dost, ye wo, all of that warmth, Subhash ji was there. But specially Ranbir. The way Ranbir came and took his aashirwad and met him. Dad used to tell me also ‘ye baccha bahot pyaara hai, iske saath shoot karta hu toh mujhe puraane dino ki yaad aati hai. It feels like a family with this boy.’ And Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ranbir together on the set created that atmosphere. It makes dad think ke chal abhi kaam karte hai. And now he is getting so many offers because of this. So, if he is inspired he will do it.”

Further in the interview, Vivek Oberoi also opened up about doing age-appropriate roles. He commented on how actors don’t pick up age-appropriate roles and how it looks ‘funny’.
