Vivek Verma Tum Mere Ho

As the cast and crew of Gurmeet Choudhary and Isha Malviya-led Tum Mere Ho gear up for the film’s release tomorrow, Bollywood Bubble spoke to composer Vivek Verma about the film’s much-loved music album. Ever since the songs dropped, the tracks have been receiving much love across social media. Be it the film’s title track or Tumhein Bhi Humse, Nakhre or Mujhe Laga Tum Mere Ho and Lag Jaenge, every song is loaded with emotions that amplify the romance and heartbreak the leads feel.

During our exclusive telephonic conversation, Vivek got candid about many things, including how the title song inspired the entire film, composing his first full-fledge film album, singing for a couple of tracks and more. Read on to know all he said.

Vivek Verma Opens Up About Composing Tum Mere Ho Title Song

Talking about Tum Mere Ho being his first full-fledged album for any Bollywood film and whether he’s nervous about how it will be received, Vivek Verma said, “Actually, it’s completely overwhelming for me. I’ve been part of the industry since long, but this kind of experience… My work coming in the mainstream as a composer and, you know, I’ve also done playback for the film. So it’s completely exciting seeing my name with other composers like Mithoon sir and other people. The whole team has done tremendously amazing. I’m also seeing people loving the title track so much. So it’s all overwhelming for me, to be honest.”

Talking about the Tum Mere Ho album and the music he created for the Gurmeet Choudhary, Isha Malviya starrer, Vivek Verma said, “Basically, the whole journey started… I had, I actually have a friend – Krish (Krishna Patel). He and me, we were composing songs together, we were doing songs and I was a part of a music label where he was a fine artist. That way we met and then we gelled up so well because our genres were really on point. Then there was a song, the title track, it was done, it was made and then I was supposed to meet Gurmeet Bhai for some music video thing.”

Vivek: It Took Me 175 Drafts To Complete The Title Track

He continued, “So I met him and I played the songs to him. So he selected the some tracks. Then I played this track, which is now the title track – Tum Mere Ho, so it really clicked with him and he was like, ‘Bhai, there is something really different about this track. I feel it pulling me. Just allow me some days’ – I think he was traveling somewhere. So he said, ‘Let’s do one more meeting, then we’ll talk about this song, but keep this song reserved for us.'”

Vivek Verma continued in a mix of Hindi and English, “Then after 3-4 days, we met again, but this time he was with the director, Ashish Panda. We met and then he was like, ‘Bhai, what we are doing, we are making a whole movie out of this song because this song resonates so well with me and I think that I’m ready for it.’ The (original) version of the track was really different from the one which is (released) now. It took me 175 drafts to complete the track and make it what it is today. Vaibhav Pani did the production of the three tracks which I have composed in the movie. He did a phenomenal job in it and he is one of the legendary producers right now in the industry. So it was a lot of hard work.”

Vivek: Gurmeet Choudhary Saw Potential And Took The Whole Risk

He further added, “So the story for the movie was really different – it was still on a developing stage, So when everything was being developed, the audio was also being modulated as per what the story is.”  Elaborating on how the songs and story go hand-in-hand, Vivek continued in Hindi, “This is a very rare to happen. It’s very rare that people make a film on a song, you know, like songs are made on a film. This is the first time I’ve seen this and a lot of people have also told me the same this, including Guru bhai.”

Vivek continued, “I really appreciate his vision for this because what normally happens is people don’t take such big risks. But he saw (potential) in the song and he took the whole risk and started initiation/pre production. First one song, then the second song, then the story  developed, then more songs came. I made five songs in this film. Eventually, as the story continued to develop – and three of my songs got locked, Mithoon sir came on board. Then Arjuna Harjai, then Uddipan Sharma’s song came. In this way an album of eight songs was ready and now it’s going to release. I’m so excited about it and people are loving it so much,I’m getting a lot of DMs. I’m excited for this.”

Vivek Verma On Only 3 Of His Compositions Being Part Of The Tum Mere Ho Music Album

When asked how he feels given that only 3 of the 5 songs he composed are now part of the Tum Mere Ho music album , Vivek said in Hindi, “No, no, no, no.  I understand one thing – ever since I was working with Himesh Reshamiya Ji, is that to make a film, it’s not about Vivek Verma or Gurmeet Chaudhary, it’s a whole package. The message should be conveyed, the motive behind making the film, the message behind it, musically, story-wise. It can only be conveyed when it’s all aligned. So, I’m completely okay with it if that happens. I don’t have any problem because those songs will be used somewhere else, in other films, where there will be a journey. Every song has its own destination.”

During the same interaction, Viven Verma also spoke about the recent jam session that was organised at Gurmeet and Debina’s home. The music composer-singer said, “It was really nice. That was a great move, by the way, from Guru Bhai.” He continued, “Actually, Guru called all the musicians and all the people who were for the music department of the film. And we were there. Nipun sir was there and we were all jamming up. So it was it was really relaxing for me.”

He added, “To be honest, I’ve always been in the back.. before this movie, I was associated with Sanam Teri Kasam, Prem Ratan and Payo, I was the one who generated… I was in the production team, the audio production team. So the whole difference from being there to here is completely overwhelming. And Nipun sir was really nice and, you know, we were really on point out that day. It was really a moment for me.”
