Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was offered the role of Avni, but she turned it down. The role later went to Vidya Balan who delivered an unforgettable performance as Avni and Manjulika.

Rani Mukerji: According to a report in ETimes, Rani Mukerji was also approached for the role of Avni, but she said no to do the film.

Katrina Kaif: According to ETimes, Katrina was offered the role of Radha, however, she turned it down. Ameesha Patel later replaced her and delivered a memorable performance.
