Cinemas account for the biggest chunk of earnings for movies and have taken a substantial hit during the pandemic. The latest easing of curbs on opening up cinema halls after more than six months of lockdown due to COVID-19 has finally brought back hope for the film industries. Now that theatres are gearing up to reopen their doors from 15th October and with Diwali around the corner, the cinephiles are thrilled and excited to know which movies will hit the screen during the festive season.

Will there be any release on October 15? What are the movie releases to expect on Diwali?

‘Sooryavanshi’ a much-hyped movie by Reliance Entertainment was announced months back to hit the screen on Diwali. With the confirmation of re-opening of theatres on October 15, Reliance lost no time to postpone the release date. Although a new date for Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer has not been announced yet, it is clear that it will not be released on November 13 (Diwali). While you, along with millions of people are wondering about what to expect this Diwali, hang in there, don’t lose hope!

It is speculated that at least three movies are being made ready for their release in the Diwali week.  They are namely ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ starring Diljit Dosanjh, Manoj Bajpayee and Fatima Sana Shaikh, and either of ‘Indoo Ki Jawani’ (starring Kiara Advani and Aditya Seal) or producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Tuesdays And Fridays’ (starring Anmol Dhillon, Jhataleka Malhotra, Zoa Morani and Niki Walia).

Rumours say that Aditya Chopra might get his ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ in the festival week which is considered to be great for the box-office. Besides these movies, several regional language films have finalised their release in the Diwali week but will be concentrated area-wise. For instance, two Marathi movies may hit the screens on Diwali in Maharashtra. Of course, if not all of these movies but at least some of them will make it to the cinemas on Diwali provided the footfalls in the weeks leading up to the Diwali week are decent enough to boost the confidence of the producers to release their films by then. Fingers crossed!

Constant uncertainty and opacity in recent times have been underwhelming and there’s a need for clarity to withstand the difficult period.

After proving his mettle in business, sports & politics, The world-famous Astro Strategist cum Business Astrologer Hirav Shah has also recently forayed into the film world. He has partnered with Vivek Oberoi’s Oberoi Mega Entertainment. This happens to be Shah’s first association with motion pictures. Mandira Entertainment and Vivek Oberoi, Co-Producers of Rosie: The Saffron Chapter, have officially inducted him into the Production for his unique perspective and vision. Recently he spoke on what it takes to market your film or product to get the utmost attention from your target audience.

While there’s hope for cinephiles to look forward to an entertainment-filled Diwali, they are expecting concrete announcements.

So where does this leave ‘Sooryavanshi’? If trade gossips are to be believed, it is expected to release in the Republic Day week. Reliance did have a choice between Christmas this year or Republic Day in 2021 for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ release week but preferred Republic Day instead. As Christmas week was already reserved for ’83’, rescheduling to next year on 22nd January seemed to be a better choice for Reliance.

Meanwhile, on Diwali, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, is all set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, and ‘Chhalaang’ will also premiere on Amazon Prime.

There is no better boat than astrology today, to help someone cross over the sea of life with certainty.
