In his illustrious career of 32 years, Salman Khan has played many roles with different names. But, there’s one name that has become a sort of signature for him and his roles: “Prem”. Right from his second film, “Maine Pyar Kiya,” this name has been a constant companion for him.

1. Maine Pyar Kiya

Salman’s second film saw him playing the lead character of Prem, who goes against all odds to win over his love and her father’s heart. The romantic drama introduced Prem to the world and there has been no looking back since then.

2. Andaz Apna Apna

Next, we have the 1994 release, “Andaz Apna Apna” where Salman co – starred with Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. His character of Prem tickled the funny bones of the audience with his antics. This absolute laughter riot of a film has gained a cult following over the years.

3. Hum Aapke Hain Koun

In his second release of 1994, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!” Salman effortlessly pulled off his character of Prem, who could go to the lengths of sacrificing his love for the sake of his family. The film is known for its celebration of Indian wedding traditions as it relates to the story of a married couple and the relationship between their families.

4. Judwaa

Salman next played Prem in the 1997 David Dhawan directorial, “Judwaa”. In fact, he played a double role in this film: one that of Prem and another of Raja. The action-comedy was a remake of a Telugu film titled, “Hello Brother”. With his comic timing and action, Salman put up an amazing performance and swayed the audience, so much so that it inspired another remake in 2017.

5. Deewana Mastana

Salman essentially played a cameo in yet another David Dhawan film titled, “Deewana Mastana”. Starring Govinda, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla, the film tells the story of two guys trying to woo a girl. “Deewana Mastana”, saw Salman entering the film in its final moments and marrying the same girl, leaving the other two guys heartbroken.

6. Biwi No.1

Next, we have the 1999 comedy-drama, “Biwi No.1” directed by David Dhawan. The film tells the story of Pooja Makhija (Karisma Kapoor), a housewife and her struggle to win back her husband, Prem (Salman Khan) after he’s smitten by Rupali (Sushmita Sen), a model in his agency and chooses to leave Pooja for her.

7. Sirf Tum

Salman was again seen as Prem, albeit in a cameo in this 1999 film where he co-starred with Sushmita Sen, Sanjay Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.

8. Hum Saath – Saath Hain

Salman joined hands with Sooraj Barjatya again in 1999 for his film, “Hum Saath – Saath Hain”. The family drama featured him as Prem, the second of the four children of a wealthy businessman. Salman impressed everyone with his sincere portrayal of the character.

9. Chal Mere Bhai

In, “Chal Mere Bhai” Salman was seen with Sanjay Dutt and Karisma Kapoor. The film is about two brothers, Vicky played by Sanjay Dutt and Prem Oberoi played by Salman Khan, and how their lives are turned upside down by a girl named Sapna.

10. Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye

In this romantic comedy, Salman played the character of a musician named Prem Kapoor, who lives with his sister, Neelu, brother-in-law Vinod, his niece and a nephew. “Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye”, is a film about Prem’s descent into alcoholism as he’s devastated following multiple heartbreaks.

11. No Entry

Salman returned as Prem in 2005 with the Anees Bazmee directorial, “No Entry”. The film derives comedy out of web of lies and confusions as Kishan (Anil Kapoor) and Sunny’s (Fardeen Khan) lives are thwarted after their friend Prem (Salman Khan) sets them up for extramarital affairs.

12. Partner

Salman was next seen as Prem in the 2007 David Dhawan film, “Partner” where he played the love – guru to Bhaskar (Govinda) and helped him win his girl’s heart.

13. Marigold

In the same year, Salman ventured Hollywood with, “Marigold” where he played the character of Prem, a Bollywood choreographer who falls in love with an American actress.

14. Ready

Salman again teamed up with Anees Bazmee in 2011 for the action-comedy, “Ready”. The film presents a case of mistaken identity that leads to love. It also tells how a man and his family cook up a scheme to win over the hearts of a woman and her greedy uncles.

15. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

The latest film that featured Salman Khan with his iconic character name Prem was the 2015 release, “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Salman again charmed the audience with his double role of a crown prince Vijay Singh and his doppelganger stage actor Prem Dilwale.
