The untold facts of Mrs Sanjay Dutt that you need to know

Rajkumar Hirani’s recent release ‘Sanju’ is a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt’s controversial life. The movie has unveiled many unknown factors about Dutt’s life on the silver screen. It also brought forth the strong bond shared by the actor and his wife Maanayata Dutt. She is seen standing beside him through his trials and tribulations like a pillar of strength.

Maanayata Dutt was born on 22 July 1979 in Mumbai. Her real name is Dilnawaz Shaikh and she spent the initial years of her life in Dubai but was soon attracted to the glitz and glamour of Tinsel town.

In Bollywood, she was known as Sara Khan and as a struggling starlet, she used to live in a dingy flat on Yari Road in Mumbai. She had appeared in a C-grade film, ‘Lovers Like Us’, the rights of which were reportedly bought by Sanjay Dutt. She was next seen doing an item number in Prakash Jha’s ‘Gangaajal’.

Maanayata was introduced to Sanjay Dutt by Nitin Manmohan. The two came close and it is rumoured that Manyata used to send home cooked food for Sanjay Dutt on his sets. Those days the actor was dating Nadia Durrani. But slowly Manyata made a place for herself in Sanju’s heart.

Maanayata was always there for Sanju during his dark phase when he had to visit the courts and even jail for his case of illegal hoarding of weapons. Their relationship went on to be strong with each passing day from then on. The news of the two being in a serious relationship came to light when the actor took her along for the Screen Awards.

Sanjay tied the knot with Maanayata on February 11, 2008, as per Hindu rites. The wedding was not attended by his family members. This was Sanjay’s third marriage after Richa Sharma and Rhea Pillai and Manyata’s second marriage.

A Miraj-ur-Rehman Shaikh claimed to be Maanayata’s ‘real husband’ after she married Sanjay Dutt. According to him, they had tied the knot in April 2005 as per the Muslim law and he also revealed that they had a two and a half-year-old son together. He had alleged that his wife Dilnasheen alias Manyata is still married to him and has yet to obtain a divorce from him. Sheikh said that Dutt and Manyata are in an ‘adulterous’ relationship. But the court had given Manyata a clean chit.

In 2010 Sanjay Dutt and Maanayata became parents to twins Iqra and Shahraan.

Things took a turn for the worse in 2013 when Sanjay was sentenced for three and a half years in jail. On 25th February 2016, he was released due to his good behaviour.
