CONFIRMED: Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan to release in two parts; new poster of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer out!

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most-awaited movies. The magnum opus is said to be made on a whopping budget. Today, the makers have released a grand poster of the upcoming film. The poster comes with a tagline-‘The golden era comes to life’ and it will come in two parts as on the poster it is written PS-1. The poster features a sword with a golden hilt and it has an emblem of the Chola kingdom. The first part is slated to release in 2022. It will showcase the story of Arulmozhi Varman and the Chola dynasty. For the unversed, the film is based on the Tamil novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.

Ponniyin Selvan is jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Lyca Productions. It has a stellar star cast that includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Prakash Raj, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Ashwin Kakumanu in pivotal roles.

Sharing the brand new poster of Ponniyin Selvan, Lyca Productions wrote on Twitter, “The golden era comes to life!”.

Reportedly, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan has completed shooting schedules in Thailand and Hyderabad and has now commenced shooting in Puducherry. In a recent media interaction, while promoting his upcoming project, Navarasa, the filmmaker said that he had completed 75 percent of the film’s shoot. It is the dream project of the director. AR Rahman will be composing the music and Ravi Varman has been taken on board for the cinematography. It is co-written by the director along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan.
