Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya announce divorce on social media: We will always hold a special bond between us

Telugu film superstars Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya took to their respective social media handles to announce that they are parting ways and ending their marriage. After a month of separation rumours, they finally addressed the same and announced that they are heading for divorce.

The rumours of their separation started when Samantha dropped ‘Akkineni’ on her social media accounts and just kept letter S. They were asked about the rumours during their media interactions but they never gave any direct answer to the questions. A few days back, strong reports suggested how Samantha and Chaitanya are worried about the divorce rumours and are planning to have a baby.

The note which was shared by both Samantha and Chaitanya had the same text which read, “To all our well wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well-wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.”

For the unversed, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Akkineni met on the sets of their film Yeh Maaya Chesave (2009). The couple tied the knot in a dreamy and lavish wedding in Goa in the year 2017. Pictures and videos from their extravagant wedding ceremonies were viral back then.

They first got married according to Hindu rituals on October 6 and later on October 7 as per Christian rituals. The couple is fondly known as ChaySam.

Chaitanya and Samantha have worked in several films together such as Ye Maaya Chesave (2010), Autonagar Surya (2014) and Manam (2014). They started dating on the sets of Ye Maaya Chesave.

On the work front, Samantha will be next seen in Gunasekhar’s Shaakuntalam. She will also be seen in Vignesh Shivan’s Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Currently, she is on a break. On the other hand, Naga Chaitanya’s latest release Love Story received a very good response from both critics and the masses.
