Actor Jack Betts has passed away at the age of 96. He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Los Osos, California, according to his nephew, Dean Sullivan. The cause of his death has not been shared yet, and his family is expected to release a statement soon.
Jack Betts Aka  Henry Balkan Dies At 96
Jack was born in Jersey City and studied theatre at the University of Miami. He later moved to New York to start his acting career. His first big role was in a 1953 Broadway version of Shakespeare’s Richard III. From 1960 to 1962, he played Chris Devlin in the TV mystery series Checkmate. He also appeared in many popular soap operas, such as The Edge of Night, The Doctors, Another World, All My Children, Guiding Light, and One Life to Live.
Even as his TV and film career took off, he returned to the stage. In 1959, he acted in Sweet Bird of Youth on Broadway. He also played Dr. Seward in Dracula on Broadway from 1977 to 1980.
Jack Betts acted in many well-known films. His work includes The Assassination of Trotsky (1972), Falling Down (1993), Batman Forever (1995), Batman & Robin (1997), 8MM (1999), Office Space (1999), and Gods and Monsters (1998).
One of his most memorable roles was in Spider-Man (2002), where he played Henry Balkan, the head of Oscorp’s board. In the film, Norman Osborn, played by Willem Dafoe, is fired by Balkan and later becomes the Green Goblin, killing Balkan and others in a dramatic Times Square scene.
Jack Betts leaves behind a long legacy of work in film, television, and theatre.
