Krishna Shroff may belong to one of Bollywood’s most recognised film families, but over the years, she has consistently chosen to carve her own path away from acting. Known for building a successful fitness empire and making a strong mark in reality TV. Krishna has often spoken about individuality and self-discovery. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Krishna candidly opened up about growing up under the pressure of a famous surname, why acting never truly felt like her calling, struggling with insecurities, and learning to ignore outside opinions over time. Scroll on to know what the actress had to share.
Krishna Shroff Calls Herself The ‘Black Sheep’ Of The Family
Opening up about the pressure of coming from a film family, Krishna Shroff admitted that people around her often expected her to eventually become an actor just like her father, Jackie Shroff and brother Tiger Shroff. She said, “I actually did feel a lot of pressure, and it’s something that I felt like I had to pursue when I was much younger, because a lot of people look at you like you’re crazy if you come from the family that I come from and you don’t want to act. They’re like, ‘It’s right there for you. Why wouldn’t you want to do it?’”
While Krishna acknowledged the privileges that came with her family legacy, she also admitted that it created confusion during her younger years. “And they think, you know, that I just keep saying there’s so much more to this world than that. While it is an amazing space to be in and my family’s legacy has given me a platform to be able to kind of go out and explore the things that I love to do, it’s been a blessing in that sense.”
Krishna Reveals She Felt A Lot Of Pressure
Talking about growing up with constant outside opinions, Krishna revealed that she struggled to figure out her own individuality as a teenager. “I did feel that pressure, but that was when you’re a young teen, you’re at this very easily influenced age where outside opinions and voices matter a lot. I was confused, I wasn’t sure.” She added, “I didn’t have much direction of what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be. Also, coming from this huge family name, how am I going to create an identity away from that for myself, my individuality?”
She further admitted that for a period of time, she genuinely believed acting might be the expected path for her. Saying, “There was a lot of confusion in my early teen years thinking about who I want to be and what I want to do. So when there’s this constant pressure from people about why wouldn’t you want to do that, you kind of think, okay, maybe that’s what I should do.”
Krishna Reveals The Reason She Never Pursued Acting
Krishna Shroff then revealed how she explored filmmaking from behind the camera before realising that acting and film production were not where her true happiness lay. Adding, “Like I said, I was always very conscious. So I was like, you know what, maybe I can’t be in front of the camera, but let me give direction or production a shot and kind of see what it’s like behind the cameras.”
Speaking proudly about her academic journey, Krishna added, “I did get my bachelor’s in film production. I’m the only graduate in my family, by the way. That’s something I’m really proud of.”
She also revealed assisting on some of Tiger Shroff’s films before eventually deciding that the film industry was not her long-term passion. “I assisted on a couple of my brother’s movies and through that entire process I realised that this is not what I want to do. It’s not going to keep me happy.”
Krishna Shroff: “I Love To Be The Best At Everything I Do”
Explaining why passion matters deeply to her, Krishna shared, “Life is too short and I feel like for me, if I’m not passionate about something, I’m never going to give it my 100%. I love to be the best at everything I do. In order to be the best at what you do, you’ve got to give it your all. And the only way I’m going to give it my all is if I truly love it.”
Reflecting on always doing things differently from expectations placed upon her, Krishna said she embraces being unpredictable. “Yeah, probably. I mean, I was definitely the black sheep of the family, always steering away from what people expected me to do or who they expected me to be. But I love living life like that. I like being spontaneous, I like being experimental. I love when people don’t know what to expect. That’s fun.”
Krishna Shroff On Body Image Insecurities In The Industry
Krishna also spoke honestly about self-confidence and body image insecurities. She revealed that building self-belief took years of conscious effort and inner work. She said, “I think for me it happened when I made a conscious effort to really work on myself. That’s really when I just stopped giving a f*ck about outside opinions because I feel like when you truly have that self-belief, that gives you a sense of security that no outside opinion or outside voice can shake.”
However, she admitted that self-acceptance is still an ongoing process. “It takes time, you know. It’s not a consistent thing. I’ve worked on it for years. I still continue to work on it every day,” she said. Opening up about insecurities women often deal with, Krishna candidly shared, “Even now I’m just like, ‘Oh my god, is my belly sticking out while I’m sitting down?’ and things like that. That’s always going to happen and especially as women, we tend to do that to ourselves way more than I think men do.”
She concluded by saying that consistent self-growth remains her biggest goal every day. “As long as I’m consciously making an effort to work on myself every single day, do something to better myself every single day, I’ll be closer to feeling that way more consistently at least.”
On the work front, Krishna Shroff continues to focus on expanding her fitness and wellness empire while steadily growing her presence in reality television. After successful stints in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, Chhoriyan Chali Gaon and The 50, Krishna has made it clear that entrepreneurship, fitness and sports remain her biggest passions over pursuing a conventional Bollywood acting career.
