Years before fashion reels and nostalgia-driven content became the norm, Karisma Kapoor was influencing style choices through her films. Her colourful outfits, statement hairstyles, and trendsetting looks in films such as ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Hero No. 1’, ‘Judwaa’, and ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ became hugely popular among audiences in the 1990s. Today, those same fashion moments have found a second life online, with younger generations recreating her iconic looks and celebrating her style choices decades after they first appeared on screen.
Karisma Kapoor REACTS To Gen-Z Recreating Her 90s Iconic Fashion Looks
For Karisma, the renewed interest in her wardrobe choices is particularly meaningful because fashion has always been one of her biggest passions. “Actually, I’ve always loved fashion right from the beginning. I think apart from, of course, acting and the love of cinema, the other two aspects of me have always been the love of dance and fashion. So I’m so happy that the hard work we put in then is appreciated by the current generation, Gen Z kids, and millennials. And I think it’s a wonderful feeling to know that and to identify with them,” she shared with Variety India. The actress added that seeing younger audiences embrace styles from a different era makes her feel suddenly connected to them.
Karisma Kapoor’s Filmography Stood The Test Of Time
While Kapoor’s fashion influence continues to attract attention, her films remain equally memorable. Throughout her career, she balanced mainstream entertainers with performance-oriented projects. She created a diverse body of work that continues to be celebrated. From box-office successes like ‘Raja Hindustani’, ‘Jeet’, and ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’ to critically appreciated performances in ‘Fiza’ and ‘Zubeidaa’, Karisma established herself as one of the most versatile leading ladies of her generation.
When the conversation turned to whether any of her films would have enjoyed a greater reception if released in today’s era, Karisma chose not to single out any particular title. Instead, she reflected on the affection audiences continue to show for her work. “You know, honestly, if I may say so, I’m very thankful and grateful. I’ve been part of some very amazing films. Whatever the fate may be, they’ve been very, very memorable, which the audience loves.”
Karisma’s Project

She is a sharp but troubled Anglo-Indian detective battling alcoholism while investigating a sensational murder case in Kolkata. Marking one of Karisma’s most intense performances in recent years, the series is currently available for streaming on ZEE5.
