The film has very sweet yet different songs. Lyrically also, these songs are romantic and beautiful. Also, I feel Amit Trivedi has used me correctly for all the songs.”

The singer, who had appeared with Amit Trivedi in Coke-Studio, has also sung in Trivedi’s ‘Luv Shuv the Chicken Khurana’. Harshdeep was all praises for the composer. “Amit Trivedi is very down to earth, he gives all the freedom to his singers. Its always fun working with him since Amit Trivedi experiments with the voices,” she said.

Harshdeep, who is popularly known for her Sufi songs, shares the kind of songs she likes to listen to, personally. “I like good music, but mostly I love songs which serene your heart. The song should either make you cry or should make you dance with all happiness.”

She has started her musical journey early in 2003. When asked about the challenges faced by singers in the music industry now, Harshdeep said, “Earlier, singers needed to step out of their comfort zones and sing. Nowadays the flexibility has increased. Electronic things have increased, now songs are made considering the singer’s qualities. This is the change I have come across, it’s all flexibility.”

As a playback singer, she says versatility is a must for singers in today’s time. She said, “Playback singers actually act behind the mike to get the perfect expressions. I practice the classical and western style, both, to have that versatility in my work and my family has helped me with every possible thing.”

The Sufi look that Harshdeep carries so aptly, has become the trend among the young generation now. When asked about how she feels after getting the title of ‘Sufi Ki Sultana’ on the sets of a reality show, she said, “Mostly, because I have sung Sufi songs on shows, I carried the look with the turban. It feels overwhelming when people follow you as a trend. In 2008, my sufi look had become quite popular. But in real life I have a very modern outlook, people would not recognise me in real life. She laughed saying, “I’m a Bombay girl now“.
