MISSION RANIGANJ REVIEW

Akshay Kumar is back and how! After the massive success of his last film OMG 2, the actor is now back with another praise-worthy performance. Akshay has headlined Tinu Suresh Desai’s disaster-thriller Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue and the film is as inspiring as it gets. Mission Raniganj is based on Jaswant Singh Gill, a brave and diligent mining engineer from IIT Dhanbad who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989.

MISSION RANIGANJ STORYLINE

Mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill (Akshay Kumar) is happily leading his life with his now-pregnant wife Nirdosh Kaur Gill (Parineeti Chopra) when he suddenly gets to know about 65 miners being trapped at the Raniganj Coalfields. Even though it doesn’t fall under his area, Jaswant takes charge and reaches the location to offer help to his senior officer (Kumud Mishra).

Jaswant makes a rescue plan that has never been used in the history of mining accidents. And even when everyone around him doubts his plan, he is hopeful and confident. How the brave engineer manages to rescue the stuck miners is the premise of the story.

Mission Raniganj is an inspirational story of courage, confidence, and bravery and Akshay has brilliantly played the role of this real-life hero.

PERFORMANCES

Akshay Kumar looks convincing as the brave and diligent Jaswant Singh Gill. Somehow, such roles suit the actor. He delivers his performance with pure honesty. An otherwise talented actor Kumud Mishra, however, disappoints in this one. His speech is unclear, dialogue delivery is poor and the constant shakiness in his hand while continuously holding a cigarette looks strange.

Parineeti Chopra does very little in the movie and has barely any screen space. The entire supporting cast including Ravi Kishan, Pavan Malhotra & Dibyendu Bhattacharya lends good support to the film.

TECHNICAL ASPECT

Tinu Suresh Desai’s direction is praise-worthy. The filmmaker backs the story with good direction while he receives full support from Akshay and his power-packed performance. Vipul K Rawal’s screenplay is satisfactory. Deepak Kingrani and Poonam Gill’s story is inspirational, emotional, and touching. Aarif Sheikh’s editing is faulty. The dubbing is off in some scenes and the VFX is just not up to the mark. Cinematographer Aseem Mishra does a decent job.

WHAT’S GREAT ABOUT THE FILM

Inspiring Story: The only thing that’s great about Mission Raniganj is the story of the film. Also because it’s based on a truly inspiring story. Had the execution been on point, this could have been an extremely satisfactory film.

Akshay Kumar’s heroic act: Akshay Kumar carries the film on his shoulders throughout. Be it his look or his A1 acting, the actor has aced it all. He has proven his versatility once again and brought to life the touching story of the brave and diligent mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill.

CONCLUSION

Watch Mission Raniganj for Akshay Kumar’s heroic act and an inspiring story that will make your chest swell with pride.
