'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'

On Monday, saints of Mathura announced a whopping amount of Rs 1 crore for chopping off the tongue of director Narayan Singh of the forthcoming movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha‘. This announcement was done at a Mahapanchayat held in Barsana where Saints were extremely angered for they felt that the movie hurt religious sentiments by depicting wedding rituals of two villages that violated the law.

So, according to a report by a popular daily, Phooldol Behari Dass Maharaj is miffed with the title of the movie and has challenged that anybody who brings the tongue of the director will be rewarded with Rs 1 crore. The Saints of Mathura are apparently miffed with the story-line as according to traditions, there are no marriages between men and women of Nandgaon and Barsana villages.

Vrindavan Pramukh, Mahant Phool Dal spoke to the media and here’s what he said, “They will have to change the name of the movie and change the marriage sequence. According to the tradition, no marriages are solemnised between there two villages and this is followed by people of all religions.”

The movie’s local line producer, Rana Pramod Singh said, “We are not aware about the agitation and objections that are being raised. Our movie has a social message and we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings”.

‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is directed by Narayan Singh and stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in main roles.
