Pavan Kirpalani on 'Kaun' and 'Phobia'

Filmmaker Pavan Kirpalani, whose latest project ‘Phobia’ has a strong resemblance to Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Kaun’, says that there is no comparison between both the films.

“I enjoyed watching ‘Kaun’ but there is no comparison between both the films,” Kirpalani told IANS.

“As an audience it was a fun movie and I really enjoyed but I understand why people compare ‘Phobia’ with ‘Kaun’ because both are psychological thriller and both have a girl trapped in the house.

“But the movie is completely different. The story is different, characterization is different,” he added.

Released in 1999 ‘Kaun’ featured Urmila Matondkar in lead. Radhika Apte will be seen playing the lead in ‘Phobia’.

Kirpalani feels that Bollywood industry doesn’t make too many psychological thriller films.

“We don’t have the inclination to make such films. We like our romantic, action masala films. I don’t know why we have not been acting on it and it’s been sidelined. I hope this film will be a welcome change in the industry,” he said.
