‘Akshay proposed every girl’

In an interview, with a magazine in 1999, Raveena had revealed that the actor proposed every girl, and soon he would address the parents of more than half the girls in Mumbai as mum and dad. She also went on to say that she won’t blame other women for her breakup because it was her man who was not loyal.

Reports of Rekha’s closeness with Akshay

‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’ starred Rekha, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. There were reports of Rekha’s closeness with Akshay. Talking about it in an interview with a magazine, Raveena had stated, “I think Raju (Akshay) knows where to draw the line. If this actress knows that we are together, yet gets too close to Akshay, I will get my claws into her. But Akshay knows how to handle the situation, I guess.”

Loyalty issue

In the chat show, Raveena had also revealed that she expected a lot of loyalty from Akshay. In another interview, the actress had said, “I think loyalty meant a lot to me, but I did not mean so much to him. He expected me to forgive and take him back every time. I did that for three years, until it was the last round.”

Elaborate engagement ceremony

When the host asked her if they were already married, Raveena said, “No, there was a very elaborate engagement ceremony. With the pandit doing poojas and everything. His family had flown down from Delhi, my family came from Delhi. One of his elders had put a red dupatta on my head, and I think that was mistaken to be a wedding.”

Decision to quit Bollywood

It is said that Akshay wanted his wife to be a homemaker, and that’s why wanted Raveena to leave the film industry. For her love, the actress had decided to quit Bollywood even before they get married. In a chat show, when the host had asked her why she was away from the big screen for two years, the actress revealed, “It was a voluntary decision. I was engaged to somebody I knew (read Akshay Kumar). This is what I wanted, to lead a very normal life. I quit in advance before marriage because we did think that when there will be last day of my shoot, we will go ahead and get married.” She also went on to reveal, “Once I re-started my career, he again said that leave it and we will go ahead with the wedding. But, then I told him that once I chose you over my career, but now I will choose my career over you.”
