Ameesha recalls Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s advice

Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, “Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, after watching Gadar, wrote a beautiful letter, complimentary letter to me. And when I had a meeting with him, he said, ‘Ameesha, you should retire now.’ I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘Because you’ve already achieved in two films what most people don’t achieve in their entire career. Once in a lifetime, a Mughal-e-Azam, a Mother India, a Pakeezah, a Sholay gest made. You had it in your second film. So, what’s next?’ I didn’t understand it at that because I was a kid, so new to the film world.”

The actress further added that whatever Sanjay Leela Bhansali said turned out to be true, as no other film of hers could surpass the success of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Ameesha Patel said, “Gadar set the bar so high that anything in my films that were superhits after that, whether it was Humraaz, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, or Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, it was a straight comparision to Gadar.”

Talking about her latest film, Gadar 2 is doing exceptionally well at the box office. Directed by Anil Sharma, Sunny and Ameesha starrer has crossed Rs 400 crore mark at the domestic box office. Given how good the sequel is performing, Ameesha is beyond happy.
