Dhobi Ghat is a drama film directed by Kiran Rao in her directorial debut starring Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra, Kriti Malhotra and Aamir Khan in the lead roles. Dhobi Ghat was made in Rs 10 crore and made an amazing collection of double the amount in just two weeks after the release.
Udaan is roughly based on the real life of Anurag Kashyap and it received positive reviews from critics on release. The film was made on a budget of 5 crores but managed to gross 30 crores on the box office.
Kahaani is a mystery thriller film directed and co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh. It stars Vidya Balan as Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman searching for her missing husband in Kolkata during the festival of Durga Puja. The movie was made on a shoestring budget of Rs. 8 crore and made a whopping Rs 78 crore at the box office.
Vicky Donor is a comedy-drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor in the lead roles. Vicky Donor opened to critical acclaim and performed strongly at the box office and was declared a 'Super Hit' by Box Office India. The storyline is based on sperm donation and infertility and was made with a small budget of Rs 5 crore and earning more than Rs 65 crore.
The Lunchbox is a epistolary romantic film starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Its budget was merely Rs. 10 crore, but the film was able to make a collection of Rs. 20 crore. The film was a box-office success. The Lunchbox was nominated for the Film Not in the English Language category of the British Academy Film Awards 2015.
Peepli Live is a satirical comedy film that explores the topic of "farmer suicides" and the subsequent media and political response. According to Box Office India, Peepli Live took a good start and made a huge collection of Rs 40.25 crore with a small budget of Rs 10 crore.

Tanu Weds Manu is directed by Anand L Rai starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan in lead roles. Tanu Weds Manu made a commendable box office collection of Rs 56 crore with a budget of Rs 17.5 crore.
Pyaar ka Punchnama
Pyaar ka Punchnama is the story of three bachelors who find girls whom they fall in love with and the twists and turns of the newly developing love stories. The film completed 50 days at the box office. It grossed Rs 17 crores in box office against a budget of Rs 7 crores.
Paan Singh Tomar
Paan Singh Tomar is a biographical film based on the true story of the athlete Paan Singh Tomar played by Irrfan Khan. A soldier in the Indian Army, he wins a gold medal at the Indian National Games, but is forced to become a notorious bandit. Paan Singh Tomar made history by making a box office collection of Rs 38 crore in spite of its small budget of Rs. Rs 8 crore.
No One Killed Jessica
No One Killed Jessica is the film based on the Jessica Lal murder case starring Vidya Balan as Jessica’s older sister, Sabrina Lal and Rani Mukerji as the news reporter. The budget of the movie was Rs 9 crore and it earned Rs 49 crore as the collections.
