Popular Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh who is making his debut in Bollywood with this film said, "I did this film because it is related to Punjab and it's a very good story. I think it's my best debut."

Talking about his co-star Alia Bhatt on playing the part of a drug addict, Shahid said, "Why is she doing that to her image because there is some substance within her which is making her feel responsible enough to pick a role that's not just about looking desirable but a role which is real."

On Monday afternoon, Bombay High Court passed a verdict on ‘Udta Punjab‘ movie which later turned out to be a ‘landmark’ decision for the entire Bollywood fraternity. Since few weeks, the makers of this Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer were going through a strong tussle with the Censor Board where they were ordered 89 cuts for this movie. Film’s producer Anurag Kashyap had appealed in the high court against CBFC’s decision. The court cleared the release of ‘Udta Punjab’ with one cut and three disclaimers to be added to it. Going through such hardships, the entire team of ‘Udta Punjab’ arranged for a press conference on Tuesday at JW Marriott where they thanked everyone for the support and love they received while the proceedings for this film were going on. Except Kareena Kapoor Khan, the entire lead star cast and makers of this film were present as they addressed the media here.
