After a long bitter war, Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and her estranged husband Sunjay Kapur are legally divorced now. Mumbai Family Court granted their divorce plea. “We informed the Family court about matter being resolved amicably at Supreme Court and also that the terms are settled. The court then granted divorce to the couple,” Sunjay’s lawyer Aman Hingorani stated to DNA. Sunjay and Karisma’s marriage which sustained for 11 years, turned bitter as their personal differences grew apart. Karisma complained that she was subject to verbal and physical assaults while Sunjay accused her of being an incompetent mother, wife and daughter-in-law. Karisma had earlier brought in a case of domestic violence against Sunjay and his mother.

Karisma has already won custody of both their children and Sunjay will have access to them for two weekends during vacations. He will also have to purchase bonds worth Rs. 14 crore for his children which will have a monthly interest of Rs 10 lakh.

“Both parties have amicably resolved the matter. The financial and custody terms have also been settled,” said Karisma’s lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani. The couple had tied the knot in 2003. Both were spotted outside the court as they left after completing the court proceedings.
