Manjummel Director Chidambaram S Poduval Alleged Of S*xual Harrasment Case By Kochi Police- Deets Inside

Chidambaram S Poduval, the director of the 2024 Malayalam hit Manjummel Boys, has been booked in a sexual harassment case, the Kerala Police confirmed on Monday. He has been booked by the Kochi police under IPC Section 354 in connection with an alleged s*xual harassment complaint from 2022. Police officials stated that a notice will be issued to the filmmaker, directing him to appear for questioning.

According to the police complaint, the Ernakulam South Police registered the case on Sunday after a woman filed a formal complaint alleging the incident took place in 2022. Chidambaram S Poduval has not yet responded to the allegations.

Authorities stated that the director is accused of trespassing into the complainant’s apartment in the Elamkulam area of Kochi and engaging in s*xually inappropriate behaviour. He faces charges under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relate to assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, as well as s*xual harassment.

Police officials said they recorded the complainant’s statement before lodging the formal complaint. They said a notice will be issued to Chidambaram S Poduval, asking him to appear for questioning.

Who Is Chidambaram S Poduval?

Chidambaram S Poduval, who debuted with Jan.E.Man in 2021, gained nationwide recognition after the success of Manjummel Boys. The film was based on real events and tells the story of friends from a small town called Manjummel near Kochi. Their vacation takes a dangerous turn when one of them falls into an 800-foot-deep pit at the Guna Caves in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu.

Produced on a budget of approximately Rs 20 crore, Manjummel Boys became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2024. It earned over Rs 240 crore worldwide. Chidambaram S Poduval is also preparing to make his Hindi directorial debut in collaboration with Phantom Studios.

Chidarama S Poduval is yet to respond to the recent allegations.
