The cult classic 'Andaz Apna Apna' to have a sequel

The cult classic ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ will soon have a sequel which would most probably roll by year end and will be helmed by either Vikas Bahl or Vikramaditya Motwane as director.

The original star cast of Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor will not be a part of the sequel. Even the director Rajkumar Santoshi will not be associated with the film. Preeti Sinha, the daughter of producer Vinay Sinha, has given the rights to Phantom Films and will be collaborating with them on the project. Preeti has already joined hands with Phantom on ‘Super 30’, mathematician Anand Kumar’s biopic.

Let’s give you a quick recap about this all-time classic comedy movie. The movie was released in the year 1994 and the story revolved around two conmen, Amar and Prem, who are vying for the same girl’s attention, who is a rich heiress, Raveena, little knowing that she is actually the secretary, Karishma, who has switched identities with her mistress. And in another switch, Raveena’s uncle Ram Bajaj who has a twin brother Shyam (Paresh Rawal) who wants to amass all the wealth from his brother Ram, dons his avatar and that leads to a lot of chaos and confusion. This rib-tickling comedy was a complete hit and it is still remembered as one of the best comedies of the 1990s era.

And now after a span of 22 long years, a sequel is on the cards but with a completely new team altogether. In an era, when sex comedies have been flooding the screens, it will be a refreshing delight to see how the sequel to the superhit original manages to charm the viewers.
