Actor and IIT Delhi graduate Amol Parashar joined hands with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) in Mumbai to raise awareness about the upcoming International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) 2025, which India is hosting from 11 to 21 August.
Amol Parashar Visits Homi Bhabha Centre For IOAA 2025
The IOAA is one of the biggest global science competitions for school students. This year’s edition will bring together participants from 64 countries. Amol’s visit was aimed at encouraging more young people to take an interest in space science and research. During the visit, Amol interacted with students and faculty, explored the labs, and joined in on conversations around space, galaxies, and scientific curiosity.
He later shared, “It was a fun and eye-opening day. I had a great time chatting with the students about everything from space-time to the moon to colliding galaxies. Their curiosity was infectious. It also made me miss my own engineering college days.” The team at HBCSE, led by its Director Professor Arnab Bhattacharya, hosted the session and took Amol through the workings of the Centre and the preparation behind IOAA 2025.
About Amol Parashar
An alumnus of IIT Delhi with an impressive rank of 238, Amol has long balanced his academic roots with a career in the arts. He has earned recognition through iconic performances in projects like TVF Tripling, Sardar Udham, and, more recently, Kull and Gram Chikitsalay, which have both topped viewership charts this year.
While his screen work has drawn wide appreciation, Amol also enjoys strong admiration from the academic and science community. Many students see him as someone who brings together intelligence and imagination, which made his visit to HBCSE all the more special.
India’s student team will compete with some of the brightest young minds from around the world at IOAA 2025. This interaction was part of a larger effort to build awareness and enthusiasm in the run-up to the event, and towards promoting interest in space science amongst young students.
