Yash has opened up about his upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grownups, in his first promotional interview. He described it as much more than a typical action-gangster drama. Speaking at CinemaCon 2026 in Los Angeles, Yash shared insights on Toxic, Ramayana, and his distinctive storytelling approach.
Yash Reveals Toxic Is NOT A Typical Action Gangster Story
In a viral clip from his interview with Fandango, the 40-year-old actor characterised Toxic as layered. “Toxic is also a very ambitious film. For the first time, we have shot that film in English as well. So as a concept of the film, it’s very layered. Once again, it’s not a typical, action-gangster story. For face value, it would look like a gangster movie with a lot of action, but it has got deep psychology. And it has got very interesting aspects of human life you can resonate with.”

Yash praised director Geetu Mohandas for creating an action film that also explores psychological themes. He remarked, “And it’s a very unique way to present a dark character, which is what I feel. It was very exciting… some of the best technicians – my director, Geetu Mohandas, has really given a new take on a gangster film, and I enjoyed it. It’s going to be a visual treat as well as something which makes a huge impact on the audience’s psychology as well.”
He concluded, “It’s one of those films that caters to everyone while offering a very unique experience.”
Yash At CinemaCon 2026
At CinemaCon 2026, Yash was joined by producer Namit Malhotra to showcase their epic project, Ramayana, to an international audience. This event marks the film’s second major global promotion, following the unveiling of the first look of Lord Rama earlier this month.
In Ramayana, Yash portrays the demon king Ravana. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as goddess Sita, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana. The film was heavily enhanced by VFX from DNEG. It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame and is expected to be a major Diwali release this year.
